DUXTOP LCD 1800-Watt Induction Cooktop 9600LS – Review

Apart from the sleek black body and silver side design, one of the main attractions of the 9600LS model is the blue light LCD display along with the sensor touch control panel. The LCD display has a blue background light with black readings that illuminates with a sophisticated look. The touch sensors help the user to control all cooking modes with a simple touch and also provides an additional advantage when it comes to swift cleaning.

DUXTOP LCD 9600LS Review

The controls include an ON/OFF button, a MENU button, and a “+/-” button on the right side of the LCD display. To the left of the display are the LOCK button, TIMER button, the BOIL and KEEP WARM buttons. The menu button switches between the power mode and the temperature mode. By selecting either one of the modes, you can change its value by pressing the “+/-” button. The lock button is provided to make the controls child proof. That is, once the lock button is pressed, you cannot change the controls by pressing any other button. The lock button will again have to be pressed for 3 seconds to undo it.

Looks are not the only characteristic that makes the DUXTOP 9600LS worthy. The cooktop has a Wattage of a whopping 1800 Watts. The best part is that there are 20 power levels that start from a 100 Watts to 1800 Watts. This helps to customize your cooking style to warm, boil, saute, or deep fry in the required settings.

Like the power mode, the temperature mode is also distributed in 20 levels. Starting from a warm mode of 100 deg F to a deep heating temperature of 460 deg F, you can choose the required temperature by pressing the increment/decrement button. The additional preset temperature touch controls called “Boil” and “Keep Warm” are also provided for easy use. The “Keep Warm” one touch button has an inset temperature of 140 deg F and holds the temperature for 30 minutes.

The built-in countdown time can be set up for a record breaking 600 minutes!! Though there is now way that any food needs to be cooked that long, the manufacturers must have set a long time to make it unique from other induction cooktops.

Induction Ready Cookware

You just cannot use any regular cooking utensil that you find in your kitchen. You must make sure that the cookwares are induction compatible. That is, if the base of your cookware sticks to a magnet, it is induction compatible. Clad based cookwares are good for induction cooking. But keep in mind that clad based cookwares, being made of multiple metals in the base, make high pitched sounds during high-temperature cooking.

Vollrath 59300 Model 12 inch Mirage Cadet Induction Cooktop – Review

The Mirage Cadet Induction Range 59300 series by Vollrath will be a great addition or even a substitution to other commercial cooktops in your kitchen. This unit is ideal for home cooking as well as outdoor buffet lines, omelet stations, catered events, convention displays and cooking demonstrations. The mere 10 lbs weight makes it ideal to carry around easily. Also, check out the Vollrath Mirage Pro 14 inch model variant as well if you prefer a sizable cooktop.

The makers of this unit, “Vollrath“ is one of the few companies that sells kitchen products with all its parts designed and built in their own plants, rather than assembling products that are imported from China.

About the Product

The unit is given a black cooktop surface with stainless steel sides. All the buttons are green in color. All the controls are placed in the front, which is angled to face the user. This gives the controls a longer life, unlike flat cooktops, where the controls may get scorched due to heat from utensils. The controls include the power button, an increment and decrement button, power/temperature mode select, and a timer button. A small display is provided to show the value selected.

All the controls are plain button type, which has to be pressed (instead of a touch).

  • The 59300 model induction cooktop by Vollrath has a width of 12”, depth of 16”, and a height of 3 ⅛”.
  • Though the cooktop diameter is 12”, the unit has a coil that is curled about 8” across, including the hub. This coil generates a hotspot in a diameter of 4.5” to 5” in the middle of the cooktop surface. The outer circle drawn in white represents the cooktop diameter which is 10” in size. This is ample enough to heat a 12″ induction compatible cookware.
  • The cooktop surface has a layer of glass covered ceramic which makes it smooth enough to clean and place cookwares. This surface is further framed by a standard 18/8 stainless steel. This standard is high enough to resist the unit from corrosion.
  • The front panel is covered by a tough material that makes it resistant from wear and tear and apt for commercial and home purposes.
  • The unit has a wattage of 1800 Watts, and a specification of 120 Volts, 15 Amps and 60 Hertz.
  • The unit has four legs (½” in height) to keep the cooktop raised from the floor. The power cord has a length of 6 feet and the plug used is the three pronged (grounded) type.
  • The cooktop has 20 different power levels and has a temperature range between 100 and 410 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • The timer function has a range between 1 minute to a maximum of 180 minutes, all set in full minute increments. As soon as the countdown concludes, the unit beeps three times and then shuts down.
  • Although most of the units have a noisy fan, this unit does not have a heavy one. Though this device may not be completely silent, the noise if fairly bearable. But the problem is that the fan motor is rated only for 20,000 hours. This may sound like there is plenty of life. This rating is provided to work in ideal conditions (absence of smoke, food residue, obstructions). A use of such a unit for commercial purposes will surely consume 5000 hours of this cooktop in 2 to 3 years. Use of this unit in poor, unhygienic conditions will not give the fan a life of more than 5000 hours. So make sure that the surrounding, as well as the unit, is clean after cooking.

Customer Reviews

Most user reviews suggest that they are completely satisfied with the product. The rugged design, the plain but easy to use buttons, the ideal cooking temperatures, and the fast cooking have all been complemented by the users. However, one user was concerned regarding a dedicated 15 Amp wiring needed separately for the unit. The unit was kind of trouble shooting when he tried to boil water in high temperatures. The advice he got for overcoming this was to place a 15 Amp wired connection for the device. If so, this kind of wiring is provided mostly or commercial buildings rather than residential ones.

Best Induction Stove Cookware Set for Everyday Use – Review and Buying Guide

Transforming your kitchen from the conventional cooking modes to the easy, safe, cost effective mode like induction cooking is sure to be the best decision you have ever made.Whether it is your home-kitchen or your semi-commercial restaurant, using an induction cooktop for cooking is the one choice most chefs and owners make. But, the kitchen would not be complete if you do not buy induction compatible cookwares as well. The base of the cookware must be of magnetic material, and this includes induction frying pans, saute pans, induction saucepans, casseroles and so on. Induction safe cookwares available in the market today are made of different materials like cast iron and stainless steel and may have bottoms made of non-stick enamel and copper. Buying the right cookware depends on factors like style, material and price. When comparing costs an induction pan may cost more than the aluminium or cast iron. But this does not mean that the expensive ones are the best. Some cookwares hardly allows foods to stick, burnout or blacken. They may be made up of a combination of different materials. Check out some pointers to choose the right induction cookware 2017.

Tips for Buying Induction Stove Cookware

Always make sure that the products you look for are “induction ready cookware”. Reading their product specs or asking the seller will give you the correct details. All induction cooktops will not start if the cookware is not induction compatible. Keep in mind that all stainless steel based cookwares are not induction ready. Some cookwares may have other layers of metals inside them. The best way to make sure is to see whether a magnet sticks at the bottom of the cookware.

  1. Most of the induction stoves will sense the cookware surface to check whether it is even. If the bottom of the cookware is not even, heat will not be transferred throughout the surface. Utensils may also vibrate and generate noise, and make scratches on the surface.
  2. Make sure that the handles of the induction pots and pans are firmly riveted. Also make sure that they are heat insulated. When cooking at high temperatures, you must not burn your hand or put it down.
  3. If you are buying all the cookwares from ground one, make sure that you have an idea of the number of induction pots and casseroles you need. This highly depends on how many people you intend to cook for. It is not a good plan to buy a wide range of cookwares if the total members to cook food for is limited.
  4. Make sure that you buy pan lids after getting an idea of what material you need. Some pans may have glass lids, which give it a distinct look. But they may seem heavy to carry to let off steam.
  5. If you are using other conventional cooking methods along with induction, buy cookwares that go with all modes.
  6. Track your cooking style before choosing the right cookware. If you want to seam meat often, it is good to buy a stainless steel based cookware. If you want to cook foods slowly (sauces), you must buy a cookware that is copper lined.

Different Types of Cookware for Induction Stove

The main difference in the pans and pots used in induction cooking is coating and cladding types. The most common coating is the non-stick coating which helps in cooking your food to a brown color without sticking to the bottom of the induction pan set. This is achieved by the teflon coating technology. There are hard-coat anodized utensils available in the market today which can maintain more heat, but has the surface of the cookware to be more hard. Cladding mostly refers to the different combination of metals that are set as layers on the cookware. Such cookwares will have their inner and outer walls made of stainless steel while adding intermediate layers of aluminium and copper. Some commonly used types of induction cookwares are explained below. We have also provided links to check the price range of the induction cookware sets online.

Stainless Steel Induction Cookware

The best option for a professional chef is the wide range of stainless steel cookwares offered by various brands like Duxtop, All Clad, Calphalon, Cuisinart and more. The main reason for choosing stainless steel as the core material is its high affordability along with its hard wearing, long lasting feature. The products may vary in price and quality depending on the number of cores sandwiched between the layers of stainless steel. Some of the best induction cookware set have stainless steel as the base material and have aluminium and copper layers sandwiched inside the stainless steel, while some have just a layer of aluminium. These layers may extend from the base of the cookware to the sides to extend the heat so that cooking is carried out smoothly.

The stainless steel models with aluminium layers in between 2 layers of stainless steel is called tri-ply. Some models have outer layers of stainless steel bonded with 2 layers of aluminium and 1 layer of copper. Such models guarantees maximum heat distribution and are called 5-ply.

One of the best stainless steel cookware that is apt for all conditions is the tri-ply model called the Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Induction Ready Premium Cookware 9-Pc Set .

All the products are induction safe and are also dishwasher, oven and freezer safe. The handles can resist the extreme temperatures, even though they do not look so. The whole product comes with a lifetime limited warranty.

Copper Cookware for Induction Cooktops

Copper cookwares are very much adaptive to heat and thus makes cooking a fairly easy job. The main factor to be noted before buying them is that the  utensils are clad with other materials. Direct exposure to acidic and alkaline foods may cause the copper to react and can thus turn dangerous to the human body. This is why clad bonded and tri-ply copper cookwares are being sold sufficiently. Clad bonded copper cookware have copper as its main course and other metallic layers are used to provide good thermal conductivity of copper. Though copper cookwares are highly priced, the fast and precise style of cooking makes us want to invest more money and secure them at the earliest.

ALL CLAD 5-Ply Bonded Cookware – View Price in Amazon

Though very costly, the All-Clad 600822 SS Copper Core 5-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe Cookware Set, 10-Piece, Silver model has high remarks for its amazing quality and cooking performance. This model just cannot be ignored from being mentioned. The fast heating of this cookware also transfers the heat to the upper parts of the utensil. The heat is distributed equally throughout the cookware. It includes five layers of metals with a strong copper core in the middle. If you do not have much experience in using copper cookwares try it in low temperatures. There is a good chance that you may burn your food due to inexperience. But once you are used to it, cooking becomes magical. Buy it only if you can afford it. The pots and pans for induction stove top comes in three sets: the 7 piece, 10 piece, and the 14 piece. The 10 piece includes

  • 8 inch and 10 inch frying pan for induction stove
  • 2-Quart saucepan with stainless steel cover
  • 3-Quart saucepan with stainless steel cover
  • 3-Quart saute with stainless steel cover
  • 8-Quart stockpot with stainless steel cover

All the utensils are riveted with stainless steel handles and are shaped and contoured for a comfortable grip.

Non-Stick Cookware

The non-stick layer in cookwares are provided to avoid sticking of foods and to reduce the use of oil in certain foods. This layer inside the utensil is made from materials like Teflon and Thermolon. By avoiding metallic spoons for stirring and using wooden spoons instead, the life of non-stick cookwares can be extended. Some hard anodized and cast iron based cookwares also uses non-stick layers for their utensils. The one thing that must be noted while buying this type is the diameter of the magnetic base. Some brands provide induction pans with magnetic base under 5 inches. Most induction cooktops do not detect such small pans even though they are induction compatible.

One of the most useful yet economic brand available in the market today is the T-fal C111SC Signature Nonstick Expert Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Dishwasher Safe Cookware Set.

T-FAL Non-Stick Induction Cookware – View Price in Amazon

  • 1-Quart saucepan with covering lid
  • 2-Quart saucepan with covering lid
  • 5.5-Quart dutch oven with lid,
  • 10.25-inch griddle

Hard Anodized Cookware

Hard anodized cookware is manufactured by placing aluminium in a chemical bath and then passing an electric charge through it. The oxide layer becomes thicker and makes the aluminium “hard-anodized”. Though the surface of the cookware is non-porous and stick resistant, the anodized layer adds weight to the whole cookware. All the flaws in using aluminium based cookwares like reaction to acids, and fragility becomes nulled. The cookware is non-stick , affordable, easy to use and has a good heating speed.

One of the best cookware for induction cooktops in this category is the Circulon Premier Professional 13-piece Hard-anodized Induction Cookware Set Chocolate Stainless Steel Base.

Though the cookware is large and heavy and slow to heat up, once it is heated do not think of cooling it easily even after the stove is off. Please do not use it for making sauces and such.

  • Cast-iron frying pan for induction stove
  • Cast-iron top

Buy cast iron based cookware if you want it to last for generations. At the same time enough care must be given to make sure that the surface is dry after washing it, to keep away rust. This cookware does not have a non-sticky coating and thus will have to be seasoned with oil to make them so.

Ceramic Cookware

Ceramic cookware is a perfect choice for people who are health conscious. Being the safest cookware available, the buyer must always note whether the cookware is specified as PTFE-, PFOA- and cadmium free. These standards show that the cookware is toxic free and is environmentally friendly to use.

When it comes to induction cooking, most ceramic cookwares are not induction friendly. Most ceramic cookwares have aluminium as its core material and will be lined with ceramic inside and outside. But, there are some products that add stainless steel to its core to make it induction compatible.

Such a product is the Green Earth Induction Frying Pan 3-Piece Induction Cookware Set by Ozeri with Textured Ceramic Non-Stick Coating.

OZERI Green Earth Ceramic Coated Frying Pan – View Price in Amazon

These frying pans uses GREBLON ceramic, which according to its manufacturers is ultrasafe from chemical reactions and is rust proof. The cookware is given a beautiful green texture and the non-stick coating is ceramic based and is also made scratch resistant. The handle is coated with silicone and is made easy to use while cooking. An additional amount must be spent to buy the appropriate lids, but still will not not cost as much as its competing brands.

The cookware set consists of

  • 8” pan
  • 10” pan
  • 12” pan

Along with the hard aluminium core is an additional stainless steel layer that makes it induction friendly.

Stone Cookware

If slow cooking is what you intend to do, stone cookware is the best choice for you. The heat is retained on the cookware that makes your food be cooked evenly at a steady pace. Any kind of cooking can be done in a stone cooktop varying from deep grills to high temperature oven cooking.

Some modern cookware makers have started selling cookwares that are made of layers of aluminium and stainless steel, but stone lined to produce a non-sticky surface. The only drawback is that the cookware will be a little heavy to use.

The best induction friendly stone cookware is the Stoneline Nonstick Stone Cookware – All-Purpose 8 Piece Set.

Fagor 670040240 Model 110-Volt Portable Induction Cooktop – Review

Introducing the Fagor 670040240 Model 110-Volt Portable Induction Cooktop, which is more precise in cooking than most other brands in its category. The manufacturers claim that this unit provides almost 90% efficiency since no heat is wasted because of electromagnetic induction technology. All the heat is produced in the form of electromagnetic waves, which directly heats the surface of the pan instead of the cooktop surface. Like all other induction cooktops, this unit also heats up only induction compatible utensils. This can be recognized by bringing a magnet close to the pan bottom. If it sticks it is induction compatible. The biggest advantage of using an induction cooktop is that is completely risk free. No heat is produced on the countertop that may create accidental burning. Neither is there any kind of cylinders that has to carry gas for cooking. Thus no kinds of flames or gas leak occurs.

About The Product

The whole product is given a pure black color which gives it a sophisticated look. The top portion of the surface is designed to hold the pot and the bottom portion has all the controls needed to cook the food. The utensils placed on the surface can have a maximum base diameter of 8.5” and a minimum diameter of 5”. These measurements are marked as white circles on the cooktop surface. Although some models can use a bigger pan than its original diameter, since this unit runs on a mere 110 Volt, you cannot expect the device to produce the extra heat.

The controls are all touch designed and includes the timer mode, the temperature mode, the child lock touch, the increment and decrement parameters, and a big LED display to show all the settings selected.

  • The Fagor 670040240 Model 110-Volt Induction Cooktop has a total dimension of 14x12x2.5 inches. It has a weight of 9.2 pounds, which is light enough to carry it around. Its portability is highly useful for cooking food in RV’s, dorms, boats and so on.
  • The top surface of the cooktop is made of a glass coating, that gives it a smooth finish. Besides, it helps in easy cleaning after cooking. All you need to do is run a damp towel through the surface. And this can be done right after cooking as no heat is present on the cooktop to burn your hand.
  • The temperature range of the cooktop is between 190 to 430 degrees Fahrenheit. There are 6 different temperature levels between them. When the unit is turned on, the device will have a preset value of the 4th mode. This value can be changed by selecting the “+/-” sign.
  • The timer touch control has a countdown from a minimum of 1 minute to a maximum of 180 minutes. Once the temperature mode is set and the timer countdown is selected, the cooking process begins by keeping the food filled utensil on the cooktop. Till then the device will be in standby mode.
  • The lock button on the cooktop is provided for the user to prevent accidental change in settings in between cooking. Once the cooking process has started, the lock button can be pressed so that all the keys are locked. Thus no one can mess up with it.
  • The cooktop is equipped with an overvoltage and undervoltage sensor, that turns off the device as soon as it detects an extreme spike in its input voltage on both sides.
  • The cooktop will jump to standby mode if no cooktop is kept on the surface of the unit. The cooktop runs for 30 seconds before turning off. This in turn helps in saving more electricity.
  • All kinds of errors that can happen during use will be notified to the user. The errors will be shown on the small LED display using short codes. They can be interpreted by reading their corresponding message in the user’s manual. The instructions on what should be done to rectify these errors are also given in the user’s manual.

Customer Rating

All the reviews in Amazon are mixed. While most of the positive comments outweigh the negative ones, all of them must be noted. All the positive comments include the precision in heating and cooking food in small pans. As no heat is dispersed, this unit helps cooking in a cool environment. The easy cleaning and high efficiency are also some points to be noted. The timer setting feature was also applauded. As soon as the countdown is over, the device automatically shuts down. This feature is a great help for the busy cook.

The negative comments include the difficulty in using the controls. Just a simple press may sometimes not suffice, a hard tap may sometimes be needed. Another user says that there is a hot spot in the center of the pan. That is, even though the heat is to be distributed throughout a 8.5 inch pan, the heat levels remain higher in the center around 5 inches. This may be because of the power limitations and fuse breaker size that the heat is limited to the inner 5 inch diameter. This unit should not be compared with a 220 Volt induction cooktop. Since the performance of this device is alright for the price it is delivered for, its advantages like heat adjustment precision, quick response and so on makes it a must buy.

The whole unit is absolutely risk free as there is no possibility of gas leak or open-fire flame.

This Pro model is very much handy for compact as well as modern kitchens because of its elegant and compact design. The high efficiency, low cost, ease to use, easy cleaning, and many more feature makes it just irresistible to buy.

About the Product

The pro model looks absolutely stunning with a black cooktop surface, surrounded by a black and white rigid metallic frame. The cooktop surface contains ample space to place the cookware. On the front end, all the quick access touch controls are placed perfectly. The cooktop has most of its space reserved for placing the cooktop. This is depicted on the surface. The surface diameter is big enough to accommodate a 12” surface diameter pot. Though the surface diameter is ideal only for 10” cooktops, a 12” one can be placed because of the equal heat supply throughout the pot surface. The minimum pot surface diameter must not be less than 5 inches.

The easy touch controls include options like temperature, lock feature, timer setting, and 8 different modes of cooking. All you have to do is place the cookware on the surface, select the desired cooking mode, select the time to cook and wait for it!

  • The unit has a total length of 15 inches, a width of 11.8 inches and a height of 2.3 inches. The dimensions reveal that the whole unit is not so big. The cooktop weighs only 5.9 pounds. This is light enough to carry it along with other luggage. The only extra component to carry along with this is the power cord. This portability feature is what makes induction cooking very much favorable than other cooking ways. In gas cooking, both the burner and the cylinder have to be carried.
  • The unit has a voltage and power rating of 120 Volts/60 Hertz and 1800 Watts. This is the most powerful unit in this price segment.
  • The surface of the cooktop has an outer layer of high quality glass ceramic material which gives the surface a clean look. It also helps the user in cleaning the surface easily after use. It is highly durable and can withstand heavy weights. The surface of the cooktop is guaranteed to remain cool even in between cooking. One reason for this is the glass layer, which is heat resistant. Another reason is that the electromagnetic waves that is responsible for providing the cooking temperature will only heat the cookware and not the surface.
  • The digital LED display, shows the power in terms of Watt, temperature in terms of Fahrenheit, and time in terms of minutes.
  • The temperature values range between 140 degrees to 465 degrees. There are 8 different levels of temperature. All these levels can either be increased or decreased using the “+/-” buttons or can be directly accessed by the easy buttons. Each temperature is meant for a specific cooking purpose. Similarly the power mode has 8 different levels with the maximum power of 1800 Watts. When a particular temperature mode is selected, its corresponding power mode is automatically selected. 1. Warming mode – 140F
  2. Simmering mode – 180F
  3. Boiling mode – 212F
  4. Rapid boiling mode – 260F
  5. Sauteing mode – 300F
  6. Browning mode – 360F
  7. Searing mode – 420F
  8. Stir-frying mode – 465F
  • The timer button provides a minimum time of 1 minute and a maximum time of 180 minutes. Out of this 180 minutes can be achieved only for warming, simmering, boiling and rapid boiling modes. The rest of the modes can have a maximum time of 60 minutes.
  • Child lock button is provided to safeguard the unit from accidental changes in settings during cooking. Once the lock button is activated the unit will not respond to any changes in settings.
  • Pan detection sensor is another feature that helps the unit in recognizing the presence of induction compatible cookware on the cooktop. The device automatically shutdown after waiting for 30 seconds if, either the cooktop has no cooking utensil, or if the cooking utensil kept is not building heat due to its poor induction compatibility. Either way, the device is safe from losing unnecessary power, and thus increases efficiency.
  • As a machine, many errors are prone to happen during its use. These errors may happen due of various reasons like  internal circuit error, overheating protection error, overvoltage or under voltage error, and also short-circuit errors. All these errors are listed in the manual.

Customer Reviews

The unit has a very good review in All the users are very pleased by the cooking speed and the easy access temperature modes that are provided in the cooktop. Most users have mentioned the speedy cooking response time. The only complaint to be heard is in the type of cookware that is to be used. For effective cooking the whole cooking base must be magnetic in nature. Thus conventional cooking utensils made of copper, aluminium, and pottery cannot be used unless and until their base is made of magnetic materials. But since this is common for all induction cooktops, it cannot be seen as a drawback of this particular unit. If you have insufficient induction compatible cookwares, it is advisable to buy Fagor based cookwares along with the cooktop.

Fagor Countertop Induction Burner 1600 Watts – Review

With gas prices relatively high, along with the difficulty and risks that comes with these kind of conventional cooking methods, most people prefer modern cooking methods like induction cooking for their daily meals. Though the initial investment is a moderately high, the total money spent can be easily gained within 6 months to 1 year. The heat generated from induction cooktops are quick enough to boil water in under 2 minutes. There is no risk involved in cooking as the the cooktop surface does not generate temperature, but instead the cookware used is indirectly heated. This heat is uniformly distributed on the cookware base, and thus the efficiency in cooking is significantly high when compared to other modes. Induction cooktops consists of only one small unit which can be placed on any countertop. But, for gas cooking, space must be accommodated for the stove as well as the gas cylinder.

There are many sorts of induction cooktops available online. They may vary in different parameters like number of burners used, Wattage, make, controls, temperature levels and more. Taking all these features into consideration, a typical home use single burner counter induction cooktop by Fagor is reviewed in this article.

About the Product

The product is given a plain design with a plain surface for placing the cookware. An additional tilt is provided in the front for positioning all the controls. The controls are all push soft touch buttons, and are used minimally to increase user interface. The surface of the cooktop has two white circles that depict the place where the cookware is to be placed. The outer circle depicts the maximum diameter of the pan surface and the inner circle depicts the minimum diameter. The maximum diameter is 9” and the minimum is 6”. Since the heat produced is spread throughout the cookware base, a 10” diameter pan can be used for cooking.

The controls include a power settings button, lock button, an increment and decrement button, the timer button, and an easy to read display button. All the values parameters selected and their corresponding values changed will  be shown in the display.

Please note that the pans and cookware used must have a magnetic base to make it suitable for cooking. Induction technology allows only magnetic substances to heat up. Such utensils, if not available must be bought along with this unit. We have provided a list of some of the best induction compatible utensils for you to buy. Check it out!!

  • The unit is quite compact with a width of 11.8” and a length of 14” and a height of 2”. The product has an overall weight of 8.5 pounds. The shipping weight is also the same.
  • The unit has a voltage rating of 120 Volts/60 Hertz and a power rating of 1600 Watts. This high wattage is more than enough for deep fry and steaming.
  • The surface of the induction cooktop has a layer of a single sheet of ceramic glass. This makes the device easier to clean after use. Rubbing a damp cloth on the surface of the cooktop makes it clean instantly.
  • All the controls are designed with the sensitivity of a soft touch. This makes the controls easy to use and is placed in the perfect place, and thus is easy to access.

The minimum power that is provided by the unit is 300 Watts, and the maximum power is 1600 Watts. The different power levels are 300 Watts, 560, 650, 720, 800, 940, 1100, 1300 and 1600 Watts.
  • A lock button function is provided to lock the controls in-between cooking. Thus, an accidental press on any of the controls will not change the settings.
  • A cookware detection function is also present in the unit. If no cookware is present on the surface, or if a cookware that is not induction compatible is kept on the surface, the unit automatically detects it and turns off the device. Thus, very little energy is wasted.

Customer Ratings

One major disadvantage as per some of the Amazon customers is the uneasy high-pitched noise that can be heard in between cooking. Some customers have even complained about it, which urged the service to repair the unit for them. Another review is on the heat produced by induction. A user has stated that the inner circle dimension is the only area where heat is dissipated. Thus, pans of smaller sizes must be used for ideal cooking. All the users are equally satisfied with the cooking time. The heat produced by the unit is ideal for cooking liquids like water, milk and so on, because the heat is easily dispersed throughout the base. But for solid foods, cooking is cumbersome as the food has to be rotated within the hot area to have an evenly cooked dish. The power settings are accurate for all kinds of food. It’s lightweight and ease to use makes its highly portable for re-heating food in parties, use in recreational vehicles and so on.

This device is also highly portable and apt for cooking in recreational vehicles. Like all other premium models manufactured by True Induction, this model is also equipped with power sharing technology. All the features are explained in detail below.

We have also reviewed some compact True Induction models with a single burner like the TI-1B and double burner models like MD-2B, S2F2 and S2F3. Do check their reviews as well to get a better idea.

About the Product

The TI-3B model has separate controls all assembled on the left bottom of the cooktop. The right burner is placed above the controls, and the other two are placed on the left. All the controls are touch enabled, and is built with their unique “EX control technology”. This makes the touch controls highly sensitive and very much responsive.

All the three burners are recognized by the white circles marked on the cooktop. There is an outer circle and an inner circle for each burner. The outer circle represents the maximum diameter of a pan surface that can be used to cook on top of the burner. The inner circle represents the minimum diameter of the utensil. Either way, the utensil used must have a flat bottom. The two burners on the left are 7” each and the one on the top right has a diameter of 9”. Since the induction based magnetic field is provided to the base of the utensil in all directions, the utensils can have a maximum of 10”. Please note that only induction compatible cookwares can be used to cook on this cooktop.

All burners have three different controls, but their keys are exactly the same in design. Three displays are provided for the burners. Each display shows the power, temperature, and timer value selected, so that the user can set the optimum ranges. To the side of the display is the “=/-” button that is used to change the values of the functions. The heat, temperature, and timer buttons are also provided along with it.

  • The whole device has a dimension of 23.25 inches  width, 20.5 inches depth, and 2.5 inches height. The product weighs 18 pounds and the shipping weight is 23.8 pounds.
  • The product has a whopping power of 3300 Watts, out of which both the left burners can use a total of 1800 Watts, and the right single burner can use a power up to 1500 Watts.
  • The power sharing technology feature of this device helps all the burners to reach maximum power, while requiring only half the circuit capacity.
  • Unlike any other induction cooktop, this model has both the left side burners run on a 110V outlet, while the third heating element on the right requires another 220 Volt plug to heat it. The main thing to notify the electrician is that each plug must utilize its own separate dedicated 15 Ampere circuit breakers. Thus the total voltage rating of the device is 110 Volt/220 Volt/60 Hertz.
  • The whole surface of the cooktop is made up of a single piece of glass ceramic element that gives it a dignified look. Moreover, the surface becomes easy to clean by just rubbing a damp cloth all over the surface. The rest of the product is placed inside a high quality metal case. Other high quality materials like stainless steel, aluminium, enameled steel, cast iron are also used to manufacture this device.
  • A fan driven ventilation unit is placed under the device to drive the heat out of the device. Extreme care must be taken in  placing the device for cooking, such that the vents are not blocked by any walls or such. This will cause damage to the device for sure.
  • The heat function has a preset value of level 5 written on the display. There are 10 different heat levels for the user to choose from. Pressing the “+/-” button will help in doing so. After selecting the required heat level, press the timer to set the desired time and start cooking.
  • If a particular temperature is needed to cook your food, you can select it by pressing the temperature function button. All the different heat levels are expressed in terms of temperature in this function. The temperature ranges from a minimum of 150 degrees to a maximum of 450 degrees F. There is a 30 degree increment between each temperature. The temperature ranges are 150F, 180F, 210F, 240F, 270F, 300F, 360F, 390F, 420F, 450F.The default value when the cooktop is turned on will be 270F.
  • Many sensors are integrated to this device to make it work smoothly. One of them is the pot recognition sensor. If there is no pot kept, and the induction cooktop is turned on, the device automatically goes to standby mode. The same happens if the pot placed is not induction compatible. The bottom of the pot placed must be made of magnetic material for the cooktop to recognize it. Such sensors help in saving a lot of electricity as well.
  • The overvoltage and undervoltage sensors help the device from getting fried from sudden voltage spikes and low voltages.

Customer Reviews

There are mainly two complaints that were reviewed by some consumers. One was the unavailability of child lock button, and the other is the presence of an additional power cord. Two plugs being installed for two different burners is not an idea that is being grasped by most users. This is because both the power cords are made to generate power from one single device.

On the other hand, most of the users are happy that this product has a warranty of two years.
